EPS. 14 Postpartum Crisis and Healing in Motherhood - One Woman's Story of Postpartum Survival
Episode 14: Postpartum Crisis and Healing in Motherhood – One Woman's Story of Postpartum Survival
In this episode of Overcaffeinated and Out of Effs I'm joined by Georgia Stephens, a Certified Child Life Specialist, postpartum doula and founder of The Pod Family Center; and Topless and in Tears.
Georgia shares her deeply personal story of spiraling into a mental health crisis marked by severe postpartum depression, anxiety and undiagnosed complex PTSD after giving birth to her daughter. With no local resources available, she made the life-saving decision to board a one-way flight with her newborn and check herself into a maternal mental health program.
Through our conversation, Georgia talks about how she went from rock bottom to rebuilding her life as a single mom, navigating trauma recovery and ultimately creating a safe space for other families to feel supported and less alone.
